Sleek modern European design picked up and plunked to make this cafe- the Castro Cafe at the Jamia Milia Islamia University in Delhi by Romi Khosla's Design Studio... well.... irks me. Why? I'm firstly a promoter of design with some respect for its context. This looks like he just wanted to make a modern building, and did! Well, no doubt it works and all. I actually liked it when I first saw it. It looks like something my Swiss ex-boss would have done in Zurich. But what turned me off in the end was.... guess, guess....
The fans!!!! Really- it only goes to show RKDS just wanted to make something that looked good- with no sign of context-respect... and then put a band-aid on it.....pffffffffffffft (with extra spit-spray).
